My arms have large blotches of dark pigmentation. This is a result of working out in the sun without sun screen. I am self conscious of the dark blotches and would like to lightened or get rid of them. I now know I must wear sun screen to prevent more of this appearing on my arms or further darken of the existing blotches.

Michael Jackson had a skin disorder called vitiligo. It made his life a lot of harder, because it made mean rumors of him: “His skin was black before. He bleached it.” Have you ever heard how to bleach your skin? It wouldn’t even help Michael because whole world knew that he was black, he couldn’t cheat anyone by bleaching his skin. Michael had those white/later brown spots/patches in his skin.

There is some evidence suggesting it is caused by a combination of autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors. It is also common in people with thyroid disorders. The population incidence worldwide is considered to be less than 1 percent.

Forgive me if this is an offensive question-offensive in that it may seem to be insensitive to ethnic diversity, offensive to those who are learned in this sort of thing who find this question to be stupid.
I do know that the eyes may be yellowed in those with very dark skin pigmentation but does the skin become discolored as well? If so, how exactly does this appear?
Just to reassure anyone who may be reading this and/or considering replying to it-the complexion described does not apply to me but I’m sure that was already obvious to some.
It can show in some light-skinned African Americans, but it’s easiest to see in the eyes or tongue. Usually the palms of the hands show it much better.
